Peskov commented that Putin had tried to start talks with NATO, the US and the OSCE even before the “special military operation” he called the invasion of Ukraine.

“Putin was open to talks when the text of the document was actually agreed between Russian and Ukrainian negotiators. So here, in this respect, nothing has changed,” Peskov pointed out.

According to the Russian official, “only the position of Kiev has changed, because “the Ukrainian side has guaranteed the non-continuation of talks with Russia”. “That is, the Ukrainian law now prohibits any negotiation”, he argued.

The Kremlin spokesman also responded to a question about a possible new telephone conversation between Putin and Erdogan. “As for the phone conversation with Erdogan, so far it’s not on the schedule. But they talk often, and the talks are coordinated sometimes literally within a few hours,” Peskov concluded.
