Come sell the clothes you don’t wear, says Zara

Consumers in the UK will be able to sell their second-hand clothes as well as buy second-hand Zara clothes

Zara is also entering the used clothes business, following the trend of the time that wants even the so-called fast fashion companies to make sustainability efforts.

From next month, consumers in the UK market will be able to repair clothes bought in Zara stores, regardless of when they were bought. The service will include replacing buttons, zippers, hem repairs and more and will be available both in-store and online.

Also, consumers in the UK will be able to sell their second-hand clothes as well as buy second-hand Zara clothes using a new platform. At the same time, they will be able to donate clothes they don’t want, regardless of the brand, to charities, as reported by Bloomberg.

Zara’s push to extend the life of its clothes comes at a time when fast fashion chains are under fire for their environmental impact, responsible for up to 10% of global emissions.

With online stores in around 200 countries, Zara’s products are already among the top sellers of used clothing. Second-hand Zara clothing and accessories can be purchased from platforms such as Depop, Vestiaire, Asos Marketplace and Re-fashion.

On Zara’s platform, sellers will upload their own photos, while the original product information will be made available by the company.

It is noted that British department store Selfridges is also planning a shift to the second-hand market, as it aims for 45% of its sales to come from second-hand sales, rentals and clothing repairs by the end of the decade.
