Ukraine: US calls for UN investigation into use of Iranian UAVs

by

“The UN must investigate any violation of Security Council resolutions,” said Richard Mills, deputy US ambassador to the United Nations.

The diplomacy of the United States of America demanded yesterday during a meeting of the Security Council that a United Nations investigation be carried out into the accusations of Kiev and its allies that Russia is using remote-controlled drones of Iranian origin in the war in Ukraine.

“The UN must investigate any violation of Security Council decisions (…) and we must not allow Russia or others to prevent or threaten it (so that) it (does not) carry out the responsibilities assigned to it” , said Richard Mills, deputy US ambassador to the United Nations.

Britain, France and Germany earlier made the same claim in a letter.

Russian Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia spoke of an “outrageous situation” at the Security Council, again rejecting accusations by the Ukrainian and Western governments and warning against any UN investigation into the issue.

If such an investigation is indeed ordered, Moscow will be forced to review its cooperation with the UN, Mr. Nebenzia added, repeating a warning his deputy, Dmitry Polyansky, had issued a few days ago.
