The Ukrainian president attacked Russia for planning a nuclear attack against his country with this particular weapon, however blaming it on Kyiv
There are more and more voices in Russia accusing Ukraine of having almost completed the construction of a “dirty bomb”. After the accusations launched on Monday morning by the Russian Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, who in his talks with NATO counterparts claimed that the forces of Kiev are planning to deploy a “dirty bomb”, it was the turn of the Russian Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov.
“According to the information we have, two organizations in Ukraine have specific instructions to create a so-called ‘dirty bomb,'” he pointed out. This work is located at its final stage”, he added.
Zelensky: The world will not “swallow” Russia’s lies
For his part, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, accused the Kremlin of planning to use this weapon against his country. “The world will not “swallow” Russia’s lies” he said characteristically as in recent weeks, concern from the West intensifies that Moscow could detonate its own “dirty bomb”, but blaming it on Kyiv.
At the same time, Zelensky accused Russia of “nuclear blackmail” at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant and that it uses “phosphorus munitions” and “prohibited anti-personnel and civilian infrastructure mines”.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba asked the head of the International Atomic Energy AgencyRaphael Grossi to send experts to Ukraine’s nuclear facilities to refute Russian claims that Ukraine plans to use a “dirty bomb.”
The head of the UN nuclear watchdog “agreed” to “urgently send experts to peaceful installations in Ukraine,” Kuleba said.
In my call with @RafaelMGrossi I officially invited IAEA to urgently send experts to peaceful facilities in Ukraine which Russia deceptively claims to be developing a dirty bomb. He agreed. Unlike Russia, Ukraine has always been and remains transparent. We have nothing to hide.
