Russia also targets Canada: The drones that attacked the Black Sea were equipped with Canadian navigation devices

Russia’s defense ministry said it has recovered and analyzed the wreckage of the unmanned, remotely piloted aircraft used in the attack on Black Sea Fleet ships in Crimea on Saturday.

Russia is adding more fuel to the fire after yesterday’s attack launched against Ukraine and Britain that they are also responsible for the massive drone attack against the Black Sea fleet in Crimea.

Today, the Ministry of Defense of Russia puts Canada in the frame. It claimed to have recovered and analyzed the wreckage of the drones used in the attack on Black Sea Fleet ships in Crimea on Saturday.

According to the ministry, these aircraft were equipped with Canadian-made navigation devices.

Reuters reports that the Russian ministry accused Ukraine of attacking the Black Sea fleet near Sevastopol with 16 drones early on Saturday and that British naval “specialists” helped coordinate what Moscow called a “terrorist attack,” an allegation which Britain denied yesterday.

Russia pointed out that it repelled the attack, but that the ships targeted by the Ukrainians were involved in securing the grain corridor from Ukraine’s Black Sea ports.

Specifically, the Russian Ministry of Defense states that “according to the results of information retrieved from the memory of the navigation receiver, it was established that the launch of sea drones took place from the coast near the city of Odessa”.

It also notes that the drones moved along the “grain corridor” security zone, before changing course to head for Russia’s naval base in Sevastopol, the largest city on the Crimean peninsula that Russia annexed in 2014.

He adds that one of the maritime drones appears to have launched from the security zone of the grain corridor itself.

“This may indicate the preliminary launch of this device by one of the civilian vessels chartered by Kyiv or its Western patrons to export agricultural products from Ukrainian seaports» emphasizes the ministry.

Moscow denounces Ukrainian attacks

At the same time, Russian news agencies citing the Ministry of Defense report that the Russian army repelled attacks by Ukrainian forces in Kharkiv, Kherson and Luhansk regions.

The ministry said that Ukrainian artillery launched an attack near the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, but that the radioactivity situation remains normal, TASS reported.

Reuters said it could not immediately verify the battlefield reports.
