Iran has been rocked by protests following the death on September 16 of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman of Iranian origin, three days after she was arrested in Tehran by morality police, who accused her of violating the Islamic Republic’s strict dress code. , which requires women to wear a headscarf.

Dozens of people, mainly protesters but also members of the security forces were killed in the demonstrations. Hundreds of others, including many women, were arrested.
