Activists from environmental group Stop Oil tried to storm Downing Street on Tuesday morning – calling for tougher and immediate taxes on energy companies after BP announced quarterly profits of £7bn.
At 11:15 a.m. local time, activists crowded the entrance to Downing Street, where Prime Minister Rishi Sunak resides, with some trying to climb the gates and others blocking the entrance by sitting on the street.
Some activists stuck their hands to the asphalt.
Video circulating on social media shows police forcefully removing protesters from the scene.
