A flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles had to make an emergency landing after smoke filled the aircraft cabin.

Scenes of panic prevailed inside the plane with the passengers thinking that this is the end.

Delta Flight 2846 made an emergency landing in Albuquerque on Tuesday after smoke of unknown origin filled both the passenger cabin and the cockpit.

“I knew something catastrophic had happened,” Gary Vaughan, a passenger on the flight, told his podcast.

“Everybody was crying, everybody was screaming, everybody thought the engines had basically gone out. And you could hear we were just sliding… we were still pretty solid. There was no commotion, there was nothing.”

The pilot told the 193 passengers that they had “lost oil pressure in the right engine” and that he had “lost all power,” the passenger said.

Throughout the process, Vaughan said the four flight attendants stood up and handed out water to the passengers.

“The pilot was in complete control of the plane. I don’t think he ever lost control of the plane,” Gary Vaughn said.
