Two of his accomplices, followers of his church, are also detained by the police as his accomplices.
An Evangelical church pastor from the Democratic Republic of Congo has been arrested by police in northern Congo-Brazzaville, accused of killing his 21-year-old son because, he claimed, “God told him to.”
This man, who calls himself “Pastor Galako”, killed his child, a high school student, last Wednesday. According to eyewitnesses who spoke to AFP, he cut his throat with a knife because he “heard the voice of God asking him to make a great sacrifice to become strong.”
Two of his accomplices, followers of his church, are also detained by the police as his accomplices.
Classmates of the murdered young man attempted to take the law into their own hands and clashed with police officers who tried to stop them. At least two people, a student and a fishmonger, were killed and nine others injured by bullets.
The police are investigating the case.
