German press on midterm elections: Let’s hope that Trump disease will not “kill” the USA

Just one day before crucial mid-term elections in the US and the German press is abuzz with comments. In a commentary on the NDR network we read about a possible Republican victory: “(…) The Republicans are confidentand they expect a victory. They appear convinced that they will at least win a majority in the House of Representatives, maybe even in the Senate.

With the new data of power, Biden and his government they could paralyze more than is already happening. Entire pieces of legislation could then be blocked. For every penny the Biden administration plans to spend, they could say no. And that would certainly increase the Republicans’ chances of victory in the next presidential election in two years. And when we talk about Republicans, we keep talking about Trump’s Republicans.”

For its part, the Süddeutsche Zeitung comments: “It is very likely that the Democrats will lose the House of Representatives, maybe even the Senate (…) Four years of Trump might have been enough for the Americans to endure, so that they can then proceed to a process reflection and renewal. But not only does the specter of Trump continue to remain politically invulnerable, but much more than 2020 has behind him a huge army of political zombies, who follow him unconditionally.

They are the ones who managed to pillage the Republican Party, the Grand Old Party, the Party of Abraham Lincoln, and turn it into the Trump Party, a shameless party of one leader worship.
