Next Saturday, November 12, the funeral service and burial of the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostom II, who fell asleep on the morning of Monday, November 7, will be held at 12:00 in the Holy Church of Apostle Barnabas in Nicosia.
The Council of Ministers decided to declare public mourning until Saturday, while the flags of the Republic of Cyprus will fly at half-mast in all schools and government buildings.
All official events are postponed until the funeral, which will take place exactly 16 years after his enthronement.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who will come to Cyprus for the first time, will preside over the exit service at the Cathedral Church of Apostle Barnabas.
A funeral will be delivered by the President of the Republic. He will be buried in the crypt of the Holy Temple, as was his wish. The body of the late Archbishop will be exposed for public pilgrimage from Thursday until Saturday morning.
This morning the condolence book will be opened, which will be signed by the President of the Republic, the members of the Council of Ministers, the Deputy Ministers and the Government Representative.
