Moscow “votes” Republicans in the US midterm elections…. “Russia ‘closely watching’ US midterm elections, aware of some Republican proposals to cut military aid to Ukraine in case of their victory,” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said in an interview with Zvezda TV channel published Monday on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Telegram account.

“Of course, we are following the developments in the United States. We know that several prominent Republicans are in favor of cutting military aid to Ukraine, on the premise that what Democrats are doing today it’s absurd” said the senior Russian diplomat.

According to Grushko, if the Republicans win, the United States could increase the pressure on European countries regarding their defense budgets. “We remember that one of the main slogans of (former US President Donald) Trump when he came to power was that Europeans should pay for their own defense. Largely thanks to his efforts, European countries made reinforced commitments to increase their defense budgets to 2% (of GDP). And there have been discussions that defense spending should now reach at least 3%. The United States will continue to follow the policy it has followed since 1949,” he added.

On Monday, the leader of the Wagner paramilitary organization Yevgeny Prigozhin confirmed that Russia has “surgically” interfered in US elections.

The so-called “Kremlin chef” reportedly stated that “we have interfered (in the US election), we are interfering and we will continue to interfere. Carefully, precisely, surgically and in our own way, as we know how to do.”
