Nelson de Sá: Argentine magazine covers Janja, ‘la Evita brasileña’

by

The Argentine weekly magazine Notícias, from the newspaper Perfil group, dedicated a cover to the wife of the president-elect, Janja, with the statement “Lula’s guardian”. She says that the “feminist sociologist promises to transform the role of first lady in Brazil”.

He emphasizes that “in the PT, they are wary of its enormous role” and “they say it is ‘the Brazilian Evita'”. He adds that Lula “declares himself in love as he was at 20”. In Brazil, Janja will be interviewed by Poliana Abritta and Maju Coutinho in this Sunday’s Fantástico (13).

Also in the magazine’s edition, “The competition between Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner”, president and vice president, to see who “is closer to Lula”. The Telám agency reported that the Brazilian spoke with Cristina this week. And before that, in Página/12, he “put on his head” a vice campaign cap, “CFK 2023”, and smiled.

REBUILD AND RENEW

In Colombia, where the center-left government is completing 100 days, the press extensively covered the meeting of the Puebla Group, Thursday and Friday. Lula’s election “dominated the spotlight” at the meeting, which seeks to bring the debate closer to Latin America.

The main newspaper, El Tiempo, plus El Universal, El Espectador and other media, in addition to the Spanish El País, highlighted the “new integration agenda” addressed by former presidents such as the Colombian Ernesto Samper, the Bolivian Evo Morales, the Dominican Leonel Fernández and, for Spain, José Luis Zapatero.

An agenda that the host Samper proposed “to renew, on the way to a solidary model of development, without losing sight of social inequality, the creation of value and the ecological transition in a world dominated by the climate crisis”.

Zapatero, the European representative, defended “uniting as many plural voices as possible” as a characteristic of the left. “Gender equality must be the first goal,” he said.

NEW POWER

In El Universal’s report, “Samper welcomed the presence of representatives of the Communist Party of China, the ‘new emerging power of the world’, to discuss the Asian giant’s relations with Latin America and the Caribbean.”
