The prosecutor also announced that television crews have been banned from broadcasting images from the scene of the explosion.
According to the statements of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the number of confirmed dead is 6, while there are also 81 injured.

The explosion occurred on Istiklal Avenue in the Beyoglu district. The explosion occurred on a central shopping street, while it was full of people.
The Turkish security forces have cordoned off the area in a large radius, while an effort is being made to immediately remove the citizens who are in nearby places.
What eyewitnesses say
No one has claimed responsibility for the blast, but Istanbul and other Turkish cities have been targeted in the past by Kurdish separatists, Islamist militants and other groups.
“When I heard the explosion, I froze in fear, people froze, looking at each other. Then people started running away. What else can one do,” said Mehmet Akous, 45, a restaurant worker in Istiklal.
“My relatives called me, they know I work in Istiklal. I reassured them,” he told Reuters.
A helicopter was flying over the blast site and several ambulances were stationed in nearby Taksim Square.
Kasimbasa Police Station said all police forces in the department have been deployed to the scene, but did not provide further details.
Local media reported that Istanbul’s general prosecutor’s office had launched an investigation into the explosion.
The Turkish Red Crescent said units of blood were being transported to nearby hospitals.
