Restrictions on rallies in Scotland due to Omicron recommended by the government

Residents of Scotland should avoid gatherings in cases involving more than three different households except on Christmas Day, said Decentralized Government Prime Minister Nicola Sterzion.

The Scottish Government’s new holiday recommendation aims to curb the spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

“We do not ask you to cancel the main family celebrations, we do not ask you to cancel or change your plans and we do not propose limits on the size of the gatherings in a household. My main appeal today is this: before and immediately after Christmas please minimize your social gatherings with other households as much as you can. However, if you plan to hang out with others, either at home or indoors, we ask that you limit the maximum number of households represented in this group to three. “And make sure you take a test before you go out,” Ms Sterzion said in the afternoon from the floor of the local Hollywood parliament.

This recommendation is not legally binding. Instead, it will be legally binding for employers to allow their staff to work from home whenever possible.

Businesses in Scotland will also need to restore social distance and catering to table service.

Justifying the new measures, Ms Sterzion said, “Omicron is spreading faster than any previous variant” and is expected to become dominant in Scotland “within days”.
