Nikos Androulakis officially presented the core of the people he will rely on for the restart of the Movement for Change – PASOK to the party’s Parliamentary Group, while he sent a message about the changes in the party. Mr. Androulakis, however, reiterated that “there are no winners and losers.”
In this context, the new leader of the Parliamentary Group of the Movement for Change will be Ilia MP Michalis Katrinis, following a proposal by the new chairman of the party at the first meeting of the Parliamentary Group after his election.
In this direction, Mr. Androulakis sent a message for procedures of self-organization and reconstruction of the party from the base, in every city, in every village from one end of the country to the next in the near future.
Michalis Katrinis will be the head of the Central Committee and will replace the newly elected President in the Parliament, since he is not a member of the national delegation, but an MEP. Costas Skandalidis remains the parliamentary representative, while Nadia Giannakopoulou takes over as deputy. For the position of secretary of the Central Committee, the president of KINAL nominated Evangelia Liakoulis and George Arvanitidis for deputy secretary of the Central Committee. Nikos Androulakis’s suggestion was approved unanimously by the KINAL MPs. Odysseas Konstantinopoulos remains the fifth Vice President of the Parliament.

On Sunday, a transitional period for our Movement ended.
The loss of Fofi shocked not only us but all Greek citizens. Today, keeping her legacy alive, we begin a new course.
The 270,000 citizens who participated in the elections sent a clear message, that the Democratic Party is here, it is possible here ready to regain the role it deserves in the political life of the country.
We received a clear mandate for change, an mandate to move forward together in a new era of perspective for the Party.
I said it on Sunday night, I say it again today, there are no more winners and losers.
Now, we are and will all be here with a common and non-negotiable goal: To make the Party great again. To make PASOK a force of hope for Greek women and men again.
In this effort, the party’s parliamentary group will be at the forefront of the struggle. I consider you all partners and so we will move forward.
This new era begins with dynamism, confidence and optimism. The large participation clearly proves the historical depth, the social footprint and the dynamics of our party.
To these people who participated will be added many more who will seek in our Movement a solution for Greece.
That their own dreams will meet our responsibilities. To make the victory of the faction, victory of the country.
In this direction, we start the next period, processes of self-organization and reconstruction of the party from the base, in every city, in every village from one end of the country to the other.
With social networks of solidarity, which will be next to the citizens, and of course together with progressive social forces of the local government, the chambers, the civil society.
To create an open and modern party, away from clientelistic and regime mentalities
This effort will revitalize the party, and will bring strong ballots in each prefecture in order to give the best possible conditions for the battle of the next national elections.
Only then will we move forward. The base of the faction showed us the way.
To be renewed. To stay united. To ensure our political autonomy with a credible social democratic program.
This command must be respected by all of us and first of all by me.
It is our responsibility for the Movement to function without barriers and without divisions, with respect for the different point of view, but with a commitment to the common strategy that we will always draw in a democratic way.
At a time when society is turning its attention to us, at a time when progressive citizens are once again giving us their expectations and hopes, we must all stand up to the circumstances and not disappoint them.
But why does society follow with particular interest the developments in our Movement?
Because he was tired of two parties investing in division, insecurity and fruitless political confrontation.
Our priority is to bring realism, consistency and responsibility to the fore.
With our positions, proposals and initiatives to upgrade the quality of political dialogue in the country.
We will be present to highlight the issues and propose solutions to become a bearer of hope and perspective for every Greek woman and every Greek man.
With a structured program speech that will be based on our ideology, that of the European Social Democracy.
It should offer the answers to their daily anxieties.
Answers to growing inequalities.
For job insecurity.
For the climate crisis and energy poverty affecting the most vulnerable.
For the impasses of small and medium-sized enterprises, which are excluded from the Government’s planning for the Recovery Fund and the financing of banks that look only at the big and powerful, those who endured before and who endure today.
For foreign policy, where ND and SYRIZA have a strategy deficit and who remember the word “responsibility” when they have a government role.
And all this in a pandemic that shows the timidity of the government, but also the inability of the official opposition to respond seriously to the circumstances.
Our Movement will be at the forefront for Greece of meritocracy, transparency, social justice and national dignity.
Now that the eyes of the Greeks are falling on us again, now that it is becoming clear that PASOK is back, let us all give our best to make the great strong and proud Democratic Party.
In this new journey I look forward to you, I want you forward and you can be sure that together we will make our Movement strong and proud again!
Today we are taking our first step, the first important step for the arrangement of our forces in Parliament.
