Borel on Poland: We remain in close contact with our partners on the next steps

by

“We will remain in close contact with our partners, including NATO, on the next steps,” the EU underlines.

The European Union expresses its unwavering unity, determination and full solidarity with Poland and the Polish people after yesterday’s explosion caused by a rocket in a village near the border with Ukraine, EU High Representative Josep Borrell stresses, expressing condolences to the families of the two victims.

In addition, the statement issued by the EU underlines its full support for the ongoing investigation by the Polish authorities to ascertain the circumstances of the tragedy.

“We will remain in close contact with our partners, including NATO, on the next steps,” the EU underlines.

At the same time, it is pointed out that this tragic incident is the result of yesterday’s barrage of missile attacks launched by Russia in various cities of Ukraine, targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, adding that these attacks are flagrant violations of international law.

Russia continues to spread disinformation about its unjustified and unprovoked war against Ukraine, the EU notes.

The European Union calls on Moscow to stop the illegal war, underlining that it remains steadfast in its support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and the right of self-defense against Russian aggression.

Finally, the EU emphasizes that it will continue to increase pressure on Russia to stop the war and withdraw from the territory of Ukraine, including through restrictive measures.
