The Center of Women’s History of the New-York Historical Society “visits” this dark chapter in US history with the exhibition “The Salem Witch Trials: Reckoning and Reclaiming}.
The NYHS brings to the exhibit historical documents such as the “Malleus Maleficarum,” a manual for the identification and killing of witches, published in Germany in 1486.
Also on display are personal belongings of Salem residents, such as a window from the Towne home (three sisters who were accused and two executed).
The exhibit also brings their history into the 21st century through the work of descendants of Salem residents.
The Salem Witch Trials: Reckoning and Reclaiming exhibition ends on January 22, 2023.
