“Invader’s plan”: Turkish anger over the film “My Beloved Smyrna”

The film has caused the wrath of Turkish media “My Beloved Smyrna” as reported by SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis.

The provocative topic is hosted today Tuesday on the front page of Hurriyet and shows the actors of the film with the Greek flag.

The newspaper talks about “an “invader’s” plan with the film” and Greek propaganda, claiming that it “shows a completely different historical reality”. “The Greek “invader” attempts to present the events as genocide” the newspaper says.

“The film of the Greeks will be shown in 700 US cinemas as in the European Parliament” it is emphasized.

“For so long they were not bothered about showing the film in Greece, but now it will be shown in the USA, and on January 11, 2023 at the European Parliament” noted Manolis Kostidis.

It should be noted that the Turkish actor also stars in the film Burak Haki, with the newspaper blaming him for his involvement.

The universal story of the film was transferred to the cinema in a high-quality blockbuster with an international cast, it received five awards from the Hellenic Film Academy and was loved by the audience for its authentic atmosphere and heartbreaking representation of the burning of this unsurpassed cradle of Ionian civilization.

The movie and the series, scripted Mimis Denisis & Martin Sherman and directed by Grigoris Karatinakis, based on the book and play of the same name by the leading Greek actress and playwright.
