Putin can no longer win on the battlefield, Chancellor Olaf Solz said, calling on the Russian president to withdraw from Ukraine and agree to peace talks
Russia gives to Ukraine a losing battle said the German chancellor Olaf Solz, stressing that it is now clear that the Russian president Vladimir Putin “he cannot win on the battlefield.”
“That’s why my appeal to (Vladimir) Putin remains: stop the senseless killings, withdraw all your troops from Ukraine and agree to peace talks with the Ukrainian government,” the chancellor said earlier Wednesday night, according to during a joint press conference he gave with the president of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis.
Mr Solz also condemned Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine as “bomb terrorism against the civilian population”. The fact that Russia has been “dropping its bombs against civilian infrastructure for weeks is not only intolerable, but also a flagrant violation of international law” and demonstrates once again “how ruthless and merciless” Vladimir Putin is in war, he concluded the German chancellor.
