According to a poll by the Civey institute on behalf of the publishing group Funke Media Group, 23% of Germans supported Merkel’s return to the helm of Europe’s largest economy.

The vast majority of Germans who took part in an online poll by the Civey Institute do not want Angela Merkel back in power.

In particular, 71% of respondents answered that they would not want Merkel, who left the chancellorship last year after 16 years at the helm of the country, to return to power, according to a poll by the Civey institute on behalf of the publishing group Funke Media Group.

23% of Germans who took part in the poll favored Merkel’s return to the helm of Europe’s largest economy.

However, around 43% of respondents said they thought the conservative Merkel did a better job than Germany’s current chancellor. On the contrary, 41% considered that the performance of the social democrat Olaf Solz is better than that of Merkel.

The Civey poll was conducted online on November 24 among a representative sample of 5,003 German voters.
