At least 14 people died today in a landslide that occurred during a funeral in a popular district of Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, the governor of the region said.
Four bodies covered in white sheets were removed by police early in the evening in the popular district of Dama, in the eastern suburbs of Yaoundé, an AFP journalist who was among hundreds of panicked residents searching for loved ones and rescuers trying to reach the point of tragedy.

“We are taking bodies to the mortuary of the main hospital, while the search for other people, or bodies, continues,” Naseri Paul Bea, the district’s governor, told media.
