The first victim of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus in the UK, announced on Monday without further details, was reportedly a retired vaccinator aged about 70, who refused to take his due doses, convinced the pandemic was a government conspiracy to controls the population.
This was stated by a listener named John, who claimed that he is the adopted son of the victim, who did not name him, calling on the air of the London LBC radio broadcast.
John said his father lived in isolation, did not leave the house, was convinced by what he read on the internet, was in good physical condition and lived a healthy life, watching what he ate and without smoking.
He also said he fell ill in early December and died on Monday, a week after being admitted to a hospital in Northampton, a city north of London that has become a hotbed of Omicron dispersal.
Public health officials said earlier in the week that they were not disclosing details about the victim for privacy reasons, although some scientists said the ambiguity may be a cause for undue concern.
The British Ministry of Health has refrained from denying what John claimed, commenting only that it does not comment on individual cases of patients.
John also said his sister had a fight with their father-in-law in October over refusing to get the coronavirus vaccine despite being a smart man. “If he had been vaccinated, he would probably still be here,” John added.
