Lavrov: US and NATO are directly involved in the war in Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated today that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the war in Ukraine because of their support for Kyiv and defended Moscow’s attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.

Lavrov stated at a press conference that Washington and the Atlantic Alliance they were directly involved in the war because they provided arms to Ukraine and military training on their soil.

He defended Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructurewhich Kyiv and the West say constitute a war crime intended to inflict suffering on civilians — by cutting off heating, electricity and power.

“We are hitting energy facilities (in Ukraine) that allow you (in the West) to funnel lethal weapons into Ukraine to kill RussiansLavrov said.

“So don’t say that the US and NATO are not involved in this war — you are directly involved. Including not only the supply of arms, but also the training of personnel — you are training the (Ukrainian) army on your soil.”

Sergey Lavrov he also accused NATO of stoking tensions near China in a way that poses threats to Russia.

“The South China Sea is now becoming one of those areas where NATO has no objection, as it once did in Ukraine, to escalate tensions,” the Russian foreign minister said in the same press interview.

“We know how seriously China takes such challenges, not to mention Taiwan and the Taiwan Strait, and we understand that NATO playing with fire in those areas poses threats and dangers to the Russian Federation. It is so close to our shores and in our seas as [είναι και] the Chinese territory,” he said.

Lavrov stated that this is the reason why Russia is developing military cooperation with China and holding joint high schools with this country.

“The fact that NATO members under the leadership of the United States are trying to create an explosive situation there, after Europe, can be well understood by everyone,” he said.

Lavrov did not provide evidence to support his claims but hinted at the creation of the AUKUS alliance between the United States, Britain and Australia.

The Russian foreign minister also accused NATO of trying to drag India into what he called an anti-Russian and anti-Chinese alliance at a time when, he said, the West is trying to drive out Russian influence.
