Erdogan insists: We will definitely complete the 30 km security corridor in Syria

“The attacks will not weaken our resolve,” the Turkish president said in a speech in Sanliufa province.

Determined to implement his plan for a military invasion of Syria and the creation of a 30-kilometer-deep security corridor along its border, the Turkish president appeared Recep Tayyip Erdoganin a speech in Sanliufa province.

Speaking in the southern province of Sanliurfa, Erdogan said the attacks would not deter the country from its resolute stance on securing its southern border, Anadolu news agency reported.

“We will definitely complete him 30 km deep safety corridor that we are creating along our southern border, attacks will not diminish our resolve,” he said.

Since 2016, Turkey has launched a wide-ranging operation along its border in northern Syria to, it claims, prevent the formation of a terror corridor and allow residents to settle peacefully. The broad operation has been divided into three strands: Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018) and Spring Peace (2019).

Erdogan’s target is the Kurds and the members of the PKK, with whom, however, they cooperate USAhaving signed a military treaty to deal with it ISIS in the area.

Ankara, however, has targeted the PKK as a terrorist organization, expressing a highly aggressive and insulting rhetoric towards European countries, as well as the US, which hosts Kurds and offers them asylum, while going so far as to veto the accession of Sweden and of Finland in NATO, for the same reasons, serving, however, with its specific tactics, the interests of Russia and Vladimir Putin.
