New York Times: Over 1,100 Workers On 24-Hour Strike – Demanding Wage Increases

More than 1,100 New York Times employees who are members of the union, are expected to proceed on Thursday, December 8 to 24-hour strike.

Similar mobilization in the historical newspaper has been taking place since the late 1970s.

Employees will picket outside the offices on 13:00with the presence of important journalists such as Nicole Hannah-Jones who is expected to speak.

Large sections of the paper could lose up to 90% of their workforce during the strike, according to NewsGuild of New York, which represents reporters and other staff at the NY Times.

On Thursday, the public will get a “taste” of current affairs, without the gritty and highly informative journalism of the Times.
