Erasmus+: The program celebrates 35 years

Since 1987, Erasmus+ has offered opportunities to study, train, work and volunteer abroad to almost 13 million people and will continue to do so in the years to come.

On Wednesday 14 December, the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus+ program will be celebrated with an all-day gala event. Since 1987, Erasmus+ has offered opportunities to study, train, work and volunteer abroad to almost 13 million people and will continue to do so in the years to come.

The Vice-President Mr. Margaritis Schinas, responsible for our European Way of Life, and the Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Ms. Marija Gabriel will attend the event together with the Czech Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Mr. Vladimir Balas and the President of the Culture Committee of the European Parliament, Mr. Sabine Verheyen. They will welcome and exchange views with Erasmus+ participants, members of beneficiary organizations and national organisations, as well as Erasmus+ founders.

The event includes a wide range of activities, including sessions and workshops dedicated to Erasmus+ priorities, examples of good practice and a presentation of the history of the programme, as well as cultural actions, including the opening of a DiscoverEU photo exhibition and theater performances by former Erasmus+ participants.
