Just three people chose not to vote for the removal of Eva Kaili as vice-president in the European Parliament, of which only one voted against, POLITICO reports.

Kaili was ousted after she was arrested as part of a wide-ranging investigation into the bribery of MEPs and officials from Qatar.

The only (independent) MEP who voted against the decision was Mislav Kolakusic, Croatian politician and co-founder of the “pan-European party” “European Alliance for Freedom and Democracy”.

The co-founder of said party, the Dutch MEP Dorien Rookmaker abstained from the vote, along with the German MEP Joachim Kush. He is a far-right MEP from the “Identity and Democracy” group.

In the Netherlands, Ruckmaker is a member of the party, More Direct Democracy, which supports more binding citizen-initiated referendums and “a fundamental reform of the European Union,” according to its website.

As far as Kous is concerned, he belongs to the far-right party Alternative for Germanyor AfD which is a significant and highly controversial political force.
