The Turkish Foreign Minister demanded action from the Belgian government on the PKK – “The demonstration took place in the context of freedom of expression. If you know something more, say it,” Haja Labib’s response

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu once again appeared sarcastic and highly provocative, who tried to criticize his Belgian counterpart, even demanding that the Brussels government take measures against the “terrorist organization PKK”, as he declared.

Haja Labib, however, did not leave unanswered the provocative attitude of the Turkish Foreign Minister, saying in a strict tone that the Kurdish demonstrations took place within the framework of freedom of expression and demonstration, even asking Cavusoglu to declare it, if he knows anything more.

The episode took place during the joint press conference of the two diplomats.

“We want you to take measures against the terrorist organization PKK, which in your country has a strong presence and activity as in Europe. Just yesterday outside our embassy (in your country) there were demonstrations with PKK flags and photos of the arch-terrorist Ocalan.

Just as there cannot be demonstrations in favor of the Islamic State, so it must be done in Belgium for the PKK. Laws should not be applied differently. If we are honest about the fight against terrorism”.

The response of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was immediate:

“Regarding the demonstrations, if you have more information, please tell us, but let me make it clear that the demonstrations took place within the framework of freedom of expression and freedom of demonstration.”
