The text, citing data from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), states that 613 people from Iran sought asylum in Germany in September, 892 in October and 1,039 in November.

The number of Iranian asylum seekers in Germany has risen dramatically since the wave of protests in the blood-soaked Islamic Republic began, according to a report in German news magazine Der Spiegel.

The text, citing data from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), states that 613 people from Iran sought asylum in Germany in September, 892 in October and 1,039 in November.

In November 2021, that number stood at 381.

In 2021, BAMF counted 2,693 asylum applications from Iranian nationals. This year, their number more than doubled, reaching 5,447 around the end of November.

For Julian Palke, an MP for the Greens, a party in the governing coalition, Berlin must support Iranians who are at risk for rebelling against the clerical regime.

Germany should “continue to make it possible, through the German embassy, to offer (them) support as well as help to leave Iran in specific cases,” he argued.
