The reopening of the city’s metro network and the reconnection of its residents Kiev with the water supply network, the mayor of the Ukrainian capital announced today, one day after the latest wave of Russian airstrikes on critical infrastructure.

Klitschko earlier this month warned of “apocalyptic” images in the Ukrainian capital if Russian airstrikes on infrastructure continued, but also said there was no need for residents to leave their homes yet. “We are fighting and doing everything we can to ensure that this does not happen,” he told Reuters news agency on December 7.
