After the talks he will have with Joe Biden, Volodymyr Zelensky will address the American senators from the floor of the Congress
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the White House, where he was received by US President Joe Biden.
This is Zelensky’s first visit abroad since Russia invaded Ukraine.
Dressed in a khaki sweater, Zelensky posed for reporters under the winter sun, flanked by Jill and Joe Biden, who embraced him.
“The American people stand proudly with the Ukrainian people,” Biden said, adding that the U.S. “supports Ukraine’s pursuit of a just peace.”

“Mr. President, it’s good to have you here again,” Biden told Zelensky. “It is an honor to stand with you in a united defense against a brutal war waged by Putin.”
“Hard to believe, 300 days have passed, and Putin has brutally attacked the right of Ukrainians to exist as a nation, with an attack on the innocent Ukrainian people for no other reason than to intimidate,” Biden added, noting Russia’s escalated attacks on energy and urban infrastructure.
Putin is “trying to use winter as a weapon,” Biden said.
President Biden assured his Ukrainian counterpart that the Americans, along with European allies, stand by Ukraine.
The two leaders will hold private talks and then hold a joint press conference.
