“After the Patriot delivery, we will look at what we can supply additionally, as we know how these air defense systems save lives,” the German foreign minister said.
Germany will consider what other weapons systems it can send to Ukraine to counter attacks by Russia after the US decision to send a Patriot air defense system, German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock said on Thursday.
“After the Patriot delivery, we will look at what we can procure additionally, as we know how these air defense systems save lives,” Ms Burbok said.
Germany has sent to Ukraine an array of the Iris-T air defense system, capable of protecting a city.
The German armed forces also have Patriot arrays, which the German government recently offered to Poland, along with their German crews. But Berlin rejected Warsaw’s proposal to deploy them on Ukrainian territory, on the grounds that German troops could not be deployed in Ukraine and that months of intensive training would be needed before Ukrainian troops could use them.
