Billionaire Michael Bloomberg, the owner of the financial news agency of the same name, is interested in buying either the Washington Post or Dow Jones, the parent company of the Wall Street Journal, the website Axios reported today, citing an unnamed source.
Such a merger would create a colossus of financial and news information, allowing the world’s 12th richest man to sell even more Bloomberg Terminals (terminals that provide real-time financial and investment data).
According to Axios, Bloomberg sees News Corp-owned Dow Jones as the ideal complement to his agency, but would buy the Post if Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com, is interested in selling the newspaper.
