As of late Saturday afternoon, more than 30 people were seriously injured and more than 50 were slightly injured, according to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency.
Problems were caused to train routes, as well as to aircraft flights in northern Japan, while in some areas of the central and western country there were problems with the movement of vehicles, as reported by public broadcaster NHK.
