Reuters reported on Friday that the feature was disabled several days ago, citing two sources briefed on the matter, who said the shutdown was ordered by Twitter Inc owner Elon Musk.

The Taliban government in Afghanistan today ordered all local and foreign non-governmental organizations to ban the women they employ from work, according to a letter from the Ministry of Economy.

This is the latest development in the crackdown on women’s freedom by the aforementioned Islamic militant movement.

The letter was confirmed by the spokesman of the Ministry of Economy, Abdulrahman Habib, while stating that the working women are not allowed to work until further notice, as some of them did not follow the government’s directives on the Islamic dress code.

It was not clarified whether this order also applies to UN agencies, which have a large presence in Afghanistan.

This development comes just days after the Taliban’s Islamic government ordered a ban on women attending universities, prompting strong condemnation from the global community, but also some protests, as well as serious criticism inside Afghanistan. .
