Part of a grandstand at the Hassan Mostafa Stadium, located in the 6th of October neighborhood in the Giza region, collapsed, injuring 27 spectators, Egyptian Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.
The basketball match between two local teams was interrupted, naturally, by the decision of the Egyptian basketball federation.
More than 20 ambulances rushed to the basketball court to take the injured to hospitals. “Most have suffered non-life-threatening injuries,” Ghafar said.
Egyptian authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse of the grandstand at the Hassan Mostafa stadium, which was inaugurated around two years ago.
