Russian President Vladimir Putin will not send wishes for the New Year to the presidents of the USA Joe Biden and France’s Emmanuel Macronn, as well as to the chancellor of Germany Olaf Solz, the Kremlin announced today, amid the crisis between Moscow and the West following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“These bonds are not sending us wishes. In fact, we have no contact with them. And given the unfriendly actions they are constantly taking, the president will not send them well wishes,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
Instead, Putin has already sent his wishes for 2023 to several leaders closer to the Kremlin.
According to a list published today by the Russian presidency, Vladimir Putin sent wishes for a happy new year especially to the presidents of China Xi Jinping, Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Syria’s Bashar al-Assad, Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro, as well as India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the Kremlin, the Russian head of state also sent New Year’s wishes to two former Western leaders, the Italian Silvio Berlusconi and the German Gerhard Schroeder.
