The Turkish Foreign Ministry today condemned the Israeli Minister of Internal Security Itamar Ben Gvir for the “provocative actions against Al Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem”.
“We are concerned and we condemn the provocative action of the Israeli Minister of Internal Security Itamar Ben Gvir against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which was carried out under the protection of the Israeli police”, underlines a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The far-right minister entered the mosque compound – holy to both Jews and Muslims – a day after announcing he was postponing the visit due to warnings of riots.
Ankara calls on Israel “to act responsibly to prevent such provocations that violate the status and sanctity of religious sites in Jerusalem and would cause escalation in the region,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry added.
