The Ecumenical Patriarch received, yesterday afternoon of Saint Theophany, the former President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, who visited the See of the Mother Church with his wife Marina, on the occasion of the four-year anniversary of the granting of Autocephaly to the Orthodox Church of his country.

The Ecumenical Patriarch once again wished for an end to the war and the return of peace to Ukraine, and expressed his support for the brave Ukrainian people who with faith and determination carry out their struggle for altars and hearths, for freedom and territorial integrity of his homeland.
The meeting was attended by the Elder Metropolitan of Chalkidon Emmanuel, as well as other associates of the Patriarch and the former President of Ukraine.
