The appeals court ruled that thirty-eight-year-old Silvia Pancheri must remain in custody
The Court of Appeal of Brescia rejected, today Saturday, the request of the defense lawyers of the daughter of Antonio Panzeri, Silvia Pancheri, to lift her house arrest.
The appeals court ruled that the 38-year-old lawyer must remain in detention pending a decision expected on January 16 on her extradition request submitted by the Belgian authorities.
Her defense attorneys had requested that Silvia Pancheri be released, with the only obligation being to go to the police station in her area every day, “so that she can continue to practice the profession of lawyer”.
As they underlined, at the same time, the amount of 200,000 euros that was frozen by the Bergamo prosecutor’s office and is in their client’s bank account, “comes from her professional earnings”.
Belgian prosecutors suspect that both the wife and the daughter of the former Italian MEP they had “full knowledge” of Pancheri’s activities, while they allegedly helped him transport “gifts”.
