The Brazilian president and the heads of Congress and the Supreme Court issued a joint statement earlier describing Sunday’s riots in Brasilia as “terrorist actions”.

“The forces of the Republic reject them terrorist acts of vandalism by criminals and coup plotters that took place yesterday afternoon in Brasilia,” reads the statement signed by Lula and the heads of Congress and the Supreme Court.
The joint statement also stressed that Brazil needs “normalcy, respect and work” while society is called on to maintain calm.
