Clashes between Castillo supporters and security forces leave at least 9 dead in Peru

At least nine people died in clashes this Monday (9) between security forces and supporters of Pedro Castillo, leader deposed after an attempted coup d’état, in the region of Juliana, Peru.

Demonstrations against the current president, Dina Boluarte, resumed last week after a two-week truce over the holiday season. Earlier, at least 25 people died in violent clashes sparked by Castillo’s ousting.
