‘Are you human?’ – Russian prisons forbid giving Navalny drugs, says his wife

According to Yulia Navalnaya, her husband is woken up at six in the morning and not allowed to lie down all day, even though he has had a high fever for at least a week.

The wife of Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny, Yulia, said today in a post on the messaging app Telegram that the administration of the IK-6 prison colony is barring lawyers from delivering medicine to her husband who is ill, not treating him and “deliberately worsen the conditions of detention”.

According to Yulia Navalnaya, her husband is woken up at six in the morning and not allowed to lie down all day, even though he has had a high fever for at least a week.

“Now I will not address Putin as usual. Does not make sense. I will address the administration and medical staff of IK-6 prison. Are you human? At home after work, parents, children are waiting for you. What do you have in your head, how do you live, are you happy that you deliberately infected a person, that you do not treat him, do not give him medicine?” Yulia Navalnaya wrote in her post.

“I have been asking for four days to be given more boiling water. They don’t take me to the hospital even though I ask. ‘We can’t put you in the intensive care unit because that’s where the flu patients are, and all you’ll do is catch it,’ they tell me. At the same time, they take my fellow prisoner from the cell for a day in the medical ward and then bring him back,” Navalny’s wife Yulia quotes Navalny as saying.

The prison administration sent Navalny to solitary confinement for the tenth time during his time in prison. On January 9, Vadim Kobzev’s lawyer stated that the Russian politician is in isolation “with fever, chills and cough.”
