US Congressman Chris Papas expresses his opposition to the sale of new F-16 aircraft to Turkey.

In his statement he says that “a year ago, he expressed his concerns to the Biden administration about the possible sale of new F-16 fighter jets and other weapons of war to the Erdogan administration.”

He adds that since then, Turkey’s behavior and rhetoric have raised concerns as it not only continues to violate the law but has threatened further violations.

“That Turkey could possibly receive American weapons to conduct military operations against a NATO ally is unthinkable,” Mr. Popes said.

He emphasizes that until the concerns he expressed and the concerns raised by subsequent Turkish actions are addressed, he will continue to work to prevent F-16s or other American-made weapons from falling into Erdogan’s hands.

“This sale should not go forward and I will oppose any plan brought before Congress,” declared Mr. Pope.
