Tension in the relations between the two countries after the execution of the Iranian-British Alireza Akbari – Macron also condemns
UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverley has announced that London is temporarily withdrawing the British ambassador to Iran for further consultations, following the execution of British-Iranian Alireza Akbari.
Emmanuel Macron condemns the execution
The execution of British-Iranian Alireza Akbari is a heinous and barbaric act, French President Emmanuel Macron said.
The French president expressed his solidarity with Britain, which condemned the execution.
The Tehran regime has defied calls from London and Washington to release 61-year-old Alireza Akbari, who was sentenced to death for “spying for Britain”.
In an audio document broadcast by BBC Persian on Wednesday, Alireza Akbari can be heard saying that he confessed to crimes he did not commit after long torture.
