The head of the Russian mercenary organization Wagne, Yevgeny Prigozhin, posted a photo on Telegram showing the identity cards of the French and Ukrainian military and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The head of the Russian mercenary organization Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin announced today Tuesday that a French soldier of the French Foreign Legion was found dead in eastern Ukraine. He posted a photo on the social networking platform Telegram showing identification cards of the French and Ukrainian military and the French Ministry of Defense, meaning the dead man was fighting with Ukrainian forces.

“Colleagues from the French Foreign Legion asked us to find Yevgeny Kulik,” Prigozhin writes in his Telegram post. “We regret to inform you that a soldier of the French Foreign Legion was found dead on the territory of the “LDN” (Donetsk People’s Republic).”

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Friday that it had brought it under its control the city of Solentar – a small salt-mining town in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, which for weeks has been at the center of a Russian offensive. Kyiv denied Moscow, however the head of Wagner claimed victory on behalf of the organization.

Reuters was unable to immediately verify Prigozhin’s claim about the French military.
