“When someone is killed how can you forget it?” The testimony of Alexios Lipiridis to SKAI from a secret location in a war zone of Eastern Ukraine

Fighting in the Donbas region has been fierce in recent weeks. Another Greek-Ukrainian fighter is also fighting against the Russians there. SKAI journalist Artemis Mantis spotted him and spoke with him. Let’s see what he said from a secret location about the developments on the hot front, but also about the state of Ukrainian defense.

“There is no spare minute. We fight all the time. We try to rotate, our friends go, they fight, they turn back, others go forward.. There is no quiet time. Neither morning nor evening. Bombardment, artillery, air force, all this” emphasizes.

“Starting at the top of Russia going down Luhansk, Donetsk, and down the Black Sea to the Crimea. But now we wait every day. When they bomb Dnipro, Kyiv, Lviv how can a woman understand why her child was killed? Her baby? Children, women, men in an apartment building” notes.

Alexios has been on the front line of fire for months… He saw before his eyes – his fellow soldiers – his friends being killed by Russian fire.

“When someone is killed how can you forget it?’ he wonders.

However, despite the human losses – despite the blows – despite the exhaustion – he does not give up for a single moment…

“We have strength – there is fatigue – we have strength because we know why we are fighting, we are fighting for our country and our families. The Russians don’t know why they came. Our battalion is fighting – it is happening – it is fighting. We will go all the way – we have nowhere to go – either our state will end or it will grow, it will be reborn. After this war. We will endure – there is no way.”

And he fights with a pin with the Greek and Ukrainian flags on his lapel.

“Greece is sending the Soviet-style tanks, thank you very much – we need them. Many Ukrainians living in Greece are sending aid – keep it up. We do our duty” points out Alexios.

All he asks for is military equipment, so they can face the Russian army.
