The number of people missing in the accident that occurred on Tuesday night is unclear

Eight people were killed today, Wednesday, and many others are reported missing after the avalanche formed in his mountains Tibetaccording to Chinese media.

Xinhua news agency reported that the avalanche formed at the exit of a tunnel on a road connecting Nyingchi City, Medog County, with Meinling County in southeast Tibet.

The municipal officials of Nyingchi, an elevated site 3,040 meterssaid the avalanche trapped people in their cars and that a rescue operation was underway for those missing, Xinhua reported.
