“I asked the head of the security service of Ukraine, in cooperation with all other relevant authorities, to investigate the circumstances under which the disaster occurred,” he added.
The helicopter, a Super Puma EC-225 according to the state emergency response service (SES) it belonged to, crashed yesterday morning in the town of Brovarynear Kyiv.
As the same source pointed out, nine people were on board the helicopter, among them the minister and the deputy minister of the interior. At the latest count, 14 people, including a child, have been killed and 25 have been injured, including 11 children.
“The head of the national police of Ukraine will head the ministry for the time being. Also, the responsibilities of the ministry in the context of defense and those related to guaranteeing the security of the state were assigned (to other agencies), Zelensky added.
